Weekly Update from the Eastern PA District Office
August 23, 2017
Did you know that The Alliance publishes weekly prayer requests? Please consider praying through these needs and encouraging your people to do the same.
John Stumbo in Eastern PA
We are excited to have John and Joanna Stumbo back in Eastern PA this fall! They will spend a few days—October 8-10—touring the District and would love to meet with as many members of the Alliance family as possible. You’ll see in the schedule below that the daytime events are for official workers and spouses only. Evening events should be promoted to your whole congregation. Please make your folks aware of these opportunities and don’t assume that they’re not likely to attend. We hope you can join us for one/several of these opportunities.
Sunday, October 8
Valley Alliance (formerly West Pittston C&MA at 317 Luzerne Street) at 6 p.m.
Monday, October 9
For pastors and wives only
Lunch at Fairlawn Community Church (353 Pleasant Hill Road, Cogan Station) at 11:30 a.m.; childcare is provided at the church. Please RSVP to Beth at email@example.com.
Lewistown Alliance Church (50 Hudson Avenue) at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, October 10
For pastors and wives only
Brunch at the District Office (1200 Spring Garden Drive, Middletown) at 10 a.m.; please RSVP to Beth at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We certainly hope to see you—and many of your church members and leaders—on the Stumbo tour!
Ministry Wives Retreat
God is designing a weekend of worship, hearing from Him, and fellowship for women who are married to a minister in the Eastern PA District. This includes active, unassigned, and retired pastors’ wives, chaplains’ wives, etc. Registration is now open for this retreat to be held October 27-29, at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Lewisburg. Brochures and letters were mailed to Ministry Wives last month. Information and registration is also available by going to this link: http://epdcma.org/ministries/ministry-wives-retreat.
Payment may be made by check or online via PayPal. If you are an official worker of the EPAD, we would love to see your wife there! Deadline to register is September 15. If you have any questions, please contact Ruth Smith at email@example.com.
Men’s Work and Worship Weekend
This year’s work and worship weekend at Summit Grove is scheduled for Oct. 19-21 (this is a change from a previously promoted date of Oct. 8-10.) Pastors, we encourage you to bring a team from your church for this time of working shoulder-to-shoulder to improve our Alliance camp while also worshipping and fellowship together. Cost is $50 per person—that includes food and lodging (bring your own towels and linens) and supplies. Register by sending the number of people from your church to firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions can be directed to Duane Stine at email@example.com or 717-985-9240.
